| First published in 1959, the BC Medical Journal is
a general medical journal governed by an editorial board of
physicians from numerous disciplines. It is the official publication
of the British Columbia Medical Association.
The BCMJ publishes high-quality clinical and review
articles written primarily by BC physicians. Several times
a year, we publish theme issues devoted to a particular discipline
or disease entity. The journal also contains editorials, book
reviews, and regular columns from the BC Centre for Disease
Control, the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, and UBC
medical students. A lively correspondence column and longer
opinion pieces provide a forum for discussion of political
as well as clinical issues of concern to the medical profession
in British Columbia. The BCMJ makes a special effort
to publish articles with a British Columbia slant--articles
on rural medicine, for example, and on clinical problems encountered
in the Pacific Northwest.
The BCMJ web site was launched in November 2000. It
initially contained the full text of the clinical articles
from the July/August 2000 issue onward, but we are gradually
increasing the content we put on line. The electronic BCMJ
is accessible free of charge, but is protected by copyright
and cannot be posted on other sites, though you are welcome
to link to our site.
